Sophie Hopps-Weber is a fourth year undergraduate student at Rochester Institute of Technology where she is majoring in Mechanical Engineering Technology with a minor in Water Resources. She hopes to graduate and pursue a career in sustainable engineering or urban planning. She first became involved with ESW as a second year student, and served as the president of RIT’s chapter this past year. ESW has given her an outlet for her love of sustainability, and has given her the opportunity to learn and participate in sustainability driven projects outside of her course work. She hopes to use her experience as a chapter leader to help other chapters grow and thrive so they can provide students with the same awesome experience she had with her chapter. When she is not busy with school or ESW, Sophie spends her time playing board games, taking pictures of her cats, and building electric formula SAE cars with RIT’s formula hybrid team.
